  • Authors write to persuade, inform and entertain us.

  • Authors write in 1st,2nd, and 3rd person.

  • Point of view is based on facts.

  • Their point of view may differ from the author.
Essential Questions
  • How can the reader use the text to determine why the text was written?

  • How can we use inductive reasoning to determine the author’s purpose?

  • How do readers identify the author’s purpose in a text.
Students will know:
  • To look for specific words or topics to determine the author’s point of view.

  • What are pronouns and how effective they are.

  • How to determine the author’s feeling?
Students will be able to:
  • Determine the author’s point of view and distinguish how it is different from your own by looking strong details.

  • Voice their own opinion and compare it to the author’s based on a specific topic.

  • Convert 3rd person point of view to 1st person point of view by adding feelings and emotions.
