Week 3: Assignment #2 Backward Design ELA-Writing

Stage 1- Desired Results
Established Goals:
W.6.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas, concepts and information through the selection, organisation,and analysis of relevant content.

Understandings
Students will understand that..
  • Their writing ideas should be organized.

  • The topic should be developed with relevant facts, definitions, and concrete details.

  • Their writing should maintain a formal style.

  • Writers follow writing process to collect, plan, draft and revised their pieces.
Essential Questions
  • How can writing techniques help us express an important experience in our lives?

  • How can we use the writing process to dig deeper into our experiences?

  • Why do authors choose different point of view?
Students will know…
  • The importance of stamina in writing.

  • How informational writing is similar to and different from other genres of writing.

  • How to write an introduction(opening statement) and conclusion( the section that follows from the information presented by restating the main point and reflecting on the topic).
Students will be able to..
  • Use transitional words to clarify relationships among ideas and concepts.

  • Improve their work, writers study mentor texts, rubrics, and feedback from peers and teachers.
